To be clear, you don't need expensive, shiny equpment to make good beer. I'm a bit of a gear junkie when it comes to the hobby. In reality, all you need is a pot that holds enough liquid, a food grade bucket, some ice, a cool place to store while fermenting, and some sanitizer. You keep clean and keep steady and you'll get decent beer.
